Paste your list, choose how many names you need, and press Pick names. The picker cycles through the list and stops on a fair, random choice. Pick one student, three volunteers or the order for presentations.
How to use the Random Name Picker
- Paste or type the names, one per line.
- Set how many names you want to pick.
- Press Pick names and watch the shuffle.
- Tick "Remove picked names" so the same person isn't picked twice.
- Press Random order to shuffle the whole list into a running order.
Name picker or wheel of names?
Both are fair. The list picker is quicker for long lists and for picking several names at once. The spinning wheel is better when you want suspense on a projector or a stream.
Frequently asked questions
Can I pick more than one name at once?
Yes. Set "How many to pick" and you get that many different names in one go.
Will the same name come up twice?
Not within one pick. Tick "Remove picked names from the list" to keep it that way across picks.
Are my names stored anywhere?
Only in your browser, so they're there next time. They're never uploaded.
What if my list has duplicates?
Press Remove duplicates to keep one copy of each name. Otherwise a repeated name gets an extra chance.
