Liar’s Dice Online

Liar's Dice is a bluffing game. Everyone rolls dice in secret, then players take turns bidding on how many of one face are on the whole table. Raise the bid or call liar. Whoever is wrong loses a die, and the last player with dice wins.

Play the full game on one device by passing it round the table, or switch to Just my dice cup so each player rolls on their own phone. The odds helper shows how likely any bid is, based on the dice you can see.

How to play Liar's Dice online

  1. Type the players' names, choose the dice per player (5 is standard) and press New game.
  2. Pass the device round so each player can press Peek and check their own dice in private.
  3. On your turn, bid a quantity and a face, like three fours, or press Liar! to challenge the last bid.
  4. When someone calls liar, every cup is shown. If the bid was true, the challenger loses a die. If it was a bluff, the bidder does.
  5. The loser starts the next round. Keep going until only one player has dice left.

Liar's Dice rules in brief

  • Each bid must beat the last one: more dice, or the same number of a higher face.
  • Bids count every die on the table, not just your own.
  • With "Ones are wild" on, ones count as any face, so bids are made on twos to sixes.
  • A player with no dice left is out of the game.
  • Quick maths: each die you can't see matches a face 1 time in 6, or 1 time in 3 when ones are wild.

Frequently asked questions

Can we play Liar's Dice with friends on different phones?

Yes. Choose Just my dice cup on each phone. Everyone shakes and peeks at their own cup, makes bids out loud, and shows their dice when someone calls liar.

What does "ones are wild" mean?

Ones count as whatever face is being bid. If the bid is on fives, every five and every one counts. It makes big bids more likely to be true.

How can I tell if a bid is likely to be true?

Count your own matching dice, then expect about one in six of the other dice to match (one in three with wild ones). The odds helper does the exact maths for you.

Is the dice roll random?

Yes. Every die is rolled with your browser's cryptographic random number generator, so no face is more likely than another.

Is this the same game as Perudo or Dudo?

They're close relatives. Perudo, Dudo and the version in Pirates of the Caribbean are all forms of Liar's Dice with slightly different rules for wild ones and challenges.
