What we collect and why
You don’t need an account to use WheelySpin, and we never ask for your name or email to spin a wheel. Here is every kind of information involved in using the site, where it ends up, and how long it stays there.
| Information | Leaves your device? | Where it’s kept | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wheel entries, saved lists and settings | No | Your browser’s local storage | Until you clear them |
| Shared wheel links | Only if you share | Inside the link you copy | As long as the link exists |
| Instagram comments you paste | No | Your browser only | Gone when you close the page |
| YouTube video link and its public comments | Briefly | Fetched from YouTube for your draw | Not kept after your draw |
| Visit logs (IP address, browser, page, time) | Yes | Our web host’s server logs | A limited time, for security |
| Analytics data, if enabled | Yes | Google Analytics | Google’s retention settings |
| Ad cookies, if ads are shown | Yes | Google and its ad partners | Set by Google and its partners |

What you type into the tools
When you add names, numbers or other entries to a wheel, picker or generator, everything is processed in your browser. To keep your list for your next visit, it is saved in your browser’s local storage on your own device. We can’t see it, and it is never sent to our server.
You can delete a saved list at any time by clearing it in the tool or clearing your browser’s data for this site.
Student names you put on a wheel stay on your own device in exactly the same way. Nothing about your class is sent to us.
Shared wheel links
When you use “Copy link to this wheel”, your entries are written into the link itself so the same wheel can open on another device. Anyone who has the link can see those entries, so only share links with information you’re happy to share.
YouTube and Instagram pickers
YouTube Comment Picker
The YouTube Comment Picker uses YouTube API Services. When you paste a video link and load comments, our site asks YouTube for that video’s public top-level comments and shows them in your browser so you can draw winners. We don’t need access to your YouTube or Google account, and we don’t keep the video link or the comments after your draw.
By using the YouTube Comment Picker, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Instagram Comment Picker
Comments you paste into the Instagram Comment Picker are processed in your browser and never sent to our server. WheelySpin is not affiliated with Instagram or Meta.
Visit logs
Like almost every website, our hosting server automatically records basic technical details when you visit: your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for, and the date and time. We use these logs only to keep the site secure, fix errors and stop abuse, and they are kept for a limited time.
Emails you send us
If you email us at admin@wheelyspin.com, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply to you and to improve the site. We never add you to a mailing list.
Children and classrooms
WheelySpin is used in classrooms and by families, but we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or the minimum age in your country. The tools don’t need accounts and never ask for personal details. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, for example under the GDPR in Europe and the UK or the CCPA in California, you may have the right to:
- See the personal information we hold about you
- Correct it or ask us to delete it
- Object to how we use it, or withdraw consent you gave for cookies
- Complain to your local data protection authority
We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure for visit logs, on your consent for analytics and advertising cookies where the law requires it, and on your request when we reply to your emails. Because the tools keep your entries on your own device, in most cases we hold nothing about you to delete. To make a request, email admin@wheelyspin.com.
Security and changes
Every page on WheelySpin is served over HTTPS, and we keep our software up to date. No website can be perfectly secure, but collecting as little as possible is the best protection we can offer.
Our pages sometimes link to other websites. Their privacy practices are their own, so check their policies too.
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
